Cooper River Bridge Run

So here is my official recap of the Cooper River Bridge Run!

My official time was:

Drove down Friday afternoon and did some shopping in Mt. Pleasant. Met up with Sarah and took care of some business. We check into our hotel and headed downtown to find out where exactly we needed to be for Saturday morning.

Here we are at dinner at a delicious restaurant called The Mustard Seed.

I didn't sleep very well the night before. I really worked myself up and I think my nerves definitely got the best of me. Lesson learned.

Here we all are at about 6:00 in the morning before the race.

Our friend John Thomas was wearing this awesome shirt:

Rena, Sarah & I waiting at the starting line.

See the yellow banner WAY down there? Yea, that's the starting line.

Here I am at the beginning!

Getting over the bridge! This was the most amazing feeling in the world.

Check out these cool guys in their leprechaun outfits.

I started the race with Kristen, but I was getting a bit of a stitch in my side and told her to go on ahead of me. This next one is me getting over the bridge! It was amazing-knowing that I could push myself to do something I never thought I could do.

SO many people all running the same race.

I saw my friend Spencer while on the bridge! It was very comforting to see a familiar face, someone telling me "You can do it!" Even if he is a Clemson fan :o)

Here I am getting into downtown Charleston.

I was so thankful for the water stations. They just happened to be at the right places at the right time! The volunteers were so nice! It was kind of scary at the first one though because the road was super wet and those cups were all over the place and it was slippery.

Mile 6! Holy Crap! I have never gone that far in a single workout/running session ever. It was the best feeling in the world.

There's the finish line!

And this happens to be my favorite picture of the whole weekend. I found Kristen at the end and her family was there with open arms! We were both all emotional and I was just so happy to be done! Her hubby snapped this picture. This picture total sums up how I was feeling.

All of us Myrtle Beach girls finished!

Rena, D, Carmela, Kristen, Antonella, Sarah, & Me

Here us hanging out in Marion Square, checkin' out all the goodies :o)

Banana phone!

We totally pigged out at Bessinger's BBQ after we vegged out for a few hours.

Rena loved those onion rings :o)

Sunday morning we headed home, but not before snapping a few pictures in the parking lot.

When I pulled into my driveway, I see the sweetest thing my dad put up on our front porch. He made me my very own finish line!

I was totally crying when I saw :o)

Not only did I have a great weekend with some great friends, I learned a lot about myself. I learned I can push myself a lot harder than I ever thought I could. I also learned that we are all running our own race-literally and figuratively. We may have bumps along the way, we may have to slow down and walk, but I finished. I can do what I set my mind to. I could not stop smiling the whole weekend.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my dad's 55th birthday!

I made him a booklet of some of his favorite CDs; Bruce Springsteen, U2, The Beatles, Queen, Dwight Yoakum, Little Feat, and some Kings of Leon (from me :o)).

The red velvet cake for later :o) Pretty excited about it!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday friends!

My weekends and weekdays seem to blend into each other now that I am working full time.

Friday I got my tax situation worked out and ran some errands with my dad. It was pretty low-key, but a fun day!

I worked yesterday, but after I got off, I met some people from work for team trivia. I've always wanted to play, but oddly enough, I've never been! We had a blast, and came in 4th out of like 11 teams?

Today I worked in the morning, but got off around 2:30. My dad's birthday is Tuesday, and I have a few things planned. #1-I ordered him a red velvet cake from The Trestle Bakery. It's his favorite! #2-I am making him a little CD book of some of his favorites to keep in his truck! He's never had a CD player in a car before so I think he'll enjoy it!
Which leads me to where I am now. I stopped by Target after work to buy some blank CDs and while I was there I picked up some Sony earbuds. They were on sale and they reminded me of pearl earrings. I LOVE them! I've had them in my ears for like an hour now and they aren't hurting! Where have these been all my life?

Hope you all had a great weekend as well!

Random Thoughts Along the Day...

Ok a few randoms for this Sunday evening...

#1- I totally won a Starbucks giftcard from Becky over at The Branches for guessing correctly on the sex of her baby! Yay me! I can't wait to get some pumpkin spice lattes and caramel apple ciders! And yay for Becky having a baby! Random thought-she totally looks like one of my best friends from college and every time I read her blog I have to remember it's not Oxana.

#2- I have to call the eye doctors back tomorrow to discuss my options about the eye/contact situation. I've been wearing the -12.00's all weekend & I have noticed I'm still squinting and I just feel uncomfortable in them. Ugh. Pray for me.

#3- My parents are going to Asheville/Bryson City area of North Carolina tomorrow for a week to see some fall foliage. I am a bit jealous, but I am VERY excited to have the house to myself for a WHOLE week!

Which brings me to some things I want to accomplish this week. Ya'll know I love some lists.
  • Organize/clean-out closet &dresser for Fall/Winter
  • Make a Goodwill stop from said clean-out
  • Hit up the grocery store
  • Anybody have some good recipes for cooking for one? I'm gonna do some research in a bit.
  • Exercise-walk/run with dogs, Wii Fit :o)
  • Apply for every job I possibly can find on the internet
  • Drop off some resumés at local places
  • Finish Logo for a friend's new business
  • Re-organize our kitchen cabinets: They suck. Straight up. Quick story: We remodeled our whole house in December 2007. My parents aren't as organized as they like to think they are, and when stuff went back into the new cabinets, it was kind of like, okay this fits here, and this can go here for now. Well, 2 years later and it's so annoying when you're trying to cook in there. I can't find anything!
  • Get & carve a pumpkin
  • Get caught up on all my DVR'd TV shows because... a new 30 Rock FINALLY comes on this Thursday! I can't wait!
Ok, so I think that's all for tonight. If anyone has any more suggestions on where's the best place to buy a Cannon Rebel, I'm still taking ideas! Ya'll are the best!

Update...

So I feel like I haven't updated in a while. (other than Gus and MJ)

I promise I'm still here!

Work has been insane. Ya'll, I have to find something new. It's a bad environment. It's definitely not what I thought I'd be doing. There's a lot of backwards things that go on and I don't want anything to do with it. Hopefully within the next month I'll be gone. I'm trying to hold out until after these weddings are over so I'll have some money for those.

Speaking of weddings, I finished Shannon's 200 wedding programs! They turned out really cute. I'll be bringing them up with me to Greenville next weekend for the wedding.

(That's Natasha being an amazing friend helping with the programs.)

So yea, wedding #1 is this coming Saturday, the 18th, in Greenville. I just picked up my dress from the alterations place today. I'm really excited to spend time with those girls. One of the bridesmaids (roomie from junior year) just got a job with Boeing, in Philadelphia so this will be one of the last hang out times I'll have with her.

The following weekend is wedding #2. I have have have to find a date for this wedding. My ex will be there as an usher with his WIFE. ugh. So you get the idea.

It sounds like everyone had a fun Fourth. I laid out by the pool and watched fireworks at the beach. Nothing amazing but super relaxing.

I also got my hair done last week. I love it when it's SUPER blonde.

I also did the invitations for the rehearsal dinner. I think they turned out super fun.

Tonight I went and got ice cream with my pops. He's such a good sport :o)

Well, I hope you all have a great weekend! I'm planning on hanging with Natasha tomorrow to watch a Michael Jackson concert that we found :o) and probably tiddying up my room/desk. I need to get organized before the weddings! Night lovelies!
