So I've seen everybody doing Kelly's Korner and I've totally wanted to do it but... I'm not married and I don't have a house and yea. But this one I TOTALLY can do-Tailgates & Favorite Teams!

Well I am a South Carolina Gamecock and I love every second of it! (Even though it's hard to be a Gamecock fan. I'm pretty sure I will have some sort of stroke/heart attack at Williams-Brice one day.)

Random Thoughts Along the Day...

Ok a few randoms for this Sunday evening...

#1- I totally won a Starbucks giftcard from Becky over at The Branches for guessing correctly on the sex of her baby! Yay me! I can't wait to get some pumpkin spice lattes and caramel apple ciders! And yay for Becky having a baby! Random thought-she totally looks like one of my best friends from college and every time I read her blog I have to remember it's not Oxana.

#2- I have to call the eye doctors back tomorrow to discuss my options about the eye/contact situation. I've been wearing the -12.00's all weekend & I have noticed I'm still squinting and I just feel uncomfortable in them. Ugh. Pray for me.

#3- My parents are going to Asheville/Bryson City area of North Carolina tomorrow for a week to see some fall foliage. I am a bit jealous, but I am VERY excited to have the house to myself for a WHOLE week!

Which brings me to some things I want to accomplish this week. Ya'll know I love some lists.

• Organize/clean-out closet &dresser for Fall/Winter
• Make a Goodwill stop from said clean-out
• Hit up the grocery store
• Anybody have some good recipes for cooking for one? I'm gonna do some research in a bit.
• Exercise-walk/run with dogs, Wii Fit :o)
• Apply for every job I possibly can find on the internet
• Drop off some resumés at local places
  
• Finish Logo for a friend's new business
• Re-organize our kitchen cabinets: They suck. Straight up. Quick story: We remodeled our whole house in December 2007. My parents aren't as organized as they like to think they are, and when stuff went back into the new cabinets, it was kind of like, okay this fits here, and this can go here for now. Well, 2 years later and it's so annoying when you're trying to cook in there. I can't find anything!
• Get & carve a pumpkin
• Get caught up on all my DVR'd TV shows because... a new 30 Rock FINALLY comes on this Thursday! I can't wait!

Ok, so I think that's all for tonight. If anyone has any more suggestions on where's the best place to buy a Cannon Rebel, I'm still taking ideas! Ya'll are the best!

The Baker's Dog

Ok So I've been meaning to write this post for a while but I am slack, forgive me.

There is this pet bakery, The Baker's Dog, in Myrtle Beach, SC that I have fallen in love with! I have two precious pups that I love to spoil. I actually found out about this bakery from Twitter.

Paul Reynolds, the owner is always on the cutting edge of technology. Plus he's a super nice guy to chat with at the store! AND-he has the CUTEST dog in the whole world- a black mini schnauzer named Josie.

Anyway-any and everyone with dogs should go check out their website because they can ship anything to anywhere! I just sent my friend Sarah's dog, Tahoe, some personalized goodies in the mail for winning his race last weekend- check out how cute it turned out!

Who says it's too early for Christmas Shopping?

Ok, I need some help bloggers!

So my birthday is December 20th. 5 Days before Christmas. Normally, I hate it. I always get combo presents. Cards read "Happy Birthday & Merry Christmas!" & I think ok, when your birthday comes in February and June your card will read the same. I mean I'm only a little bitter.

Anyway, I told my parents that this year, I'd be fine if I received a combo present.

TA-DA!

So here's where I need your help. I know a lot of you out there have the Cannon Rebel and I want to know where did you buy it?

I've looked at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Sam's Club, Costco & Amazon. The prices ranged from $611-$712. Specifically I want the Canon - EOS Digital Rebel XSi 12.2-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera with Lens - Black.

Any suggestions out there?

Eye Update

So holy crap I wasn't expecting this...


Eye Doc says "Well, Lindsay, they can't get much worse, but here's the deal... you have to go to a toric lens."

I forgot to mention yesterday I have an astigmatism, so my eye is shaped like a football instead of a basketball.

So I say, "What's a toric lens?"

And Wikipedia says:

A toric lens is one in which either or both of the optical surfaces have the effect of a cylindrical lens, usually in combination with the effect of a spherical lens. Myopic (nearsighted) and hypermetropic (farsighted) people who also have astigmatism and who have been told they are not suitable for regular contact lenses may be able to use toric lenses. If one eye has astigmatism and the other does not, the patient may be told to use a spherical lens in one eye and a toric lens in the other. Toric lenses are made from the same materials as regular contact lenses but have a few extra characteristics:

• They correct for both spherical and cylindrical aberration.
• They may have a specific 'top' and 'bottom', as they are not symmetrical around their centre and must not be rotated. Lenses must be designed to maintain their orientation regardless of eye movement. Often lenses are thicker at the bottom and this thicker zone is pushed down by the upper eyelid during blinking to allow the lens to rotate into the correct position (with this thicker zone at the 6 o'clock position on the eye). Toric lenses are usually marked with tiny striations to assist their fitting.
  
  
• They are usually more expensive to produce t han non-toric lenses; therefore they are usually meant for extended wear.

So after we leave the exam room, we break the news to my dad.

And dad says "So how much more expensive?"

And Eye Doc says "$459 for a year supply."

Dad says "FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY-NINE DOLLARS?!?!?!?!?!"

Apparently, these lenses have to be specially made just for me. And, only one other patient of his wears these kinds of contacts.

Well the nice lady at the front gave me two different samples of non-toric lenses to try and see if they help at all. So far, the -11.00's are not making much of a difference. Tomorrow and Saturday I'll try the -12.00's.

Anyway, to sum this story up, I may be going blind and there's nothing I can do about it. And I don't have an extra $500 to pay for contacts, so I may be setting up a donation site. Just Kidding. :o)

Really?

So as you are reading this, I'll be on my way to the eye doctor for the FOURTH time in a year. I'd like to point out that every time I've gone, I've had to get a new contact prescription. I mean, really?

Some background info about my eyes:

• Got my 1st pair of glasses in 5th grade (10 years old)
• Dad got glasses in 6th grade (11 years old)
• Dad's eyes have significantly gotten worse---i.e. in 2002 he had a detached retina followed by lens replacement surgery.
• In 2004, Dad receives cataract surgery in left eye, is told he has another cataract in right eye, but not bad enough to remove it with the lens replacement surgery.

Which leads me to today- 4th time in one year (365 days) that I will be marching into my eye doctor's office. I should get a frequent customer card. And, I also blame my father.

If anyone is interested, my prescription going in there today for my contacts in -10.5 in both eyes. I don't know how much worse it can get.

Fun weekend in Savannah!

So a recap of my weekend-

Friday I drove down to Savannah and met up with Sarah. We went to this massive Yard Sale the Junior League was hosting at the Civic Center. It was a little crazy the amount of stuff they had for sale! Sarah ended up getting some cute candle holders, but that was it.
Then we went to my FAVORITE cafe in downtown, The Express Cafe. uhhhhh it's so good. They have the best bread pudding in the whole world.

We also checked out City Market for these paintings that I love-obviously.

We took it pretty slow Friday evening before the big race on Saturday. What big race? THE WIENER RACE! Sarah & Matt have a dappled Dachshund named Tahoe who was racing on Saturday. He won his heat, then competed in the Top 10 (out of like 180 dogs) and came in around 6th-ish. It was hard to tell b/c they were all so close.




It was hilarious. After the races, we walked around Oktoberfest & had some brats & fresh apple cider... have I mentioned how much I LOVE fall?


We had the Thirty-One party that evening and it was a huge hit! Sarah did some serious selling at her work and it ended up being over a $1000 party! Free stuff for Sarah & mo' money for Sam!

It was such a fun, relaxing weekend. I always have a great time when I go to Savannah!

Weekend post a little early

Happy Thursday Blog Friends!

First off-I can't believe how I have 87 followers! Thanks so much to all of you who read the nonsense that I write! I am enjoying reading all your stories as well! (Not that I consider what you write nonsense, because I don't. I just think-who wants to read about me?!)

So this post's title is for the weekend. why you ask? Because I am going to SAVANNAH!

Yay.

I was supposed to go over Labor Day weekend, but I ended up going to Boston & Cape Cod instead. Oh, I know, what a terrible life I lead. :o) Things like that just don't happen to me everyday, so when they do, I have to take advantage!

Anyway-I am going to stay with my friend Sarah who is a Labor & Delivery nurse. She is hosting a Thirty-One Party on Saturday night and it just so happens that Oktoberfest this weekend!


She has a wiener dog named Tahoe is going to be competing in the races Saturday morning, and then we'll probably just hang out and walk around, see the sites during the rest of the day before the party.

I'm really excited!

I'm planning on coming back home Sunday or Monday, and stopping in Charleston on my way back to see another friend, Carol, who is at MUSC.

Anyway, it's going to be a super fun weekend! I'll be back with pictures soon!
