Monday Mania!
So it's Monday... again.
How did that happen?
As I was doing my morning reading of the gossip websites this morning I came across some disturbing news...

Josh Groban is dating Katy Perry.
What?
A few things here...
#1 - Josh Groban should be dating me.
#2 - Katy Perry? Really? She kissed a girl. AND she liked it? What?
#3 - How can "You Raise Me Up" be with "UR so gay" even get along? What do they have in common? What do they talk about?
I just don't get it. Bah.
On a lighter note...
Made of Honor is available on Netflix! I can't wait!!!! I wanted to see it in the movie theater but it never happened. Yay for Netflix.
Today starts Phase 2 on South Beach!! I had some High Fiber cereal today! and I have some grapes for a snack! I'm pretty excited!
I also tricked Dad into watching Twilight with me last night. I had to watch it on the big screen, so if that meant Dad was there... oh well. Ha, he didn't hate it. I then stayed up till like 12 midnight watching all the extra stuff. At the end of the credits it had a little disclaimer that said:
"If you watched all of these credits you are suffering from OCD- Obsessive Cullen Disorder."
Bahaha...
I'm already down like 12 games in my bracket... Dad & I are competing in total games won & Final Four. It's okay- all my final four are still in. We'll see how that goes though...
I'm also going to Savannah on Friday to visit Sarah & Matt! I cannot wait. I have never been and I am SO excited. We are going to Paula Dean's on Friday for dinner, downtown Savannah Saturday- day, then Matt- the best best friend's husband EVER- got us a spa day- a facial, manicure, AND massage!!!! woo!!!!! I think we're going to Monsters vs. Aliens on Sunday. It's going to be the best weekend ever.

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful start to the week!

Ugh...
Man. I'd really love some pancakes! Like five. With butter & lots of syrup.
Random statement? Not really.
Why?
Because my father decided to make them.
Can I eat them?
NO.

The death of me...
Shopping.

It by far is my most favorite thing in the world to do.
I bought this scarf the other day from AƩropostale.

If I had an extra$100 in my checking account I'd buy these things...

I AM buying this tomorrow!

I'd also like to get a manicure before I go to Savannah...

Maybe when I find a big girl job, I can make these dreams a reality.
P.S.- Today I walked 2 miles & cooked an amazing dinner- pork chops & asparagus! Yay for my Diet! I think I've lost total about 5-7 pounds in about 12-13 days. I need to use the same scale lol. Anyway- yay for getting healthy & active!

So I'm making a mix to workout to- any suggestions?

Here's Me Doing My Part, Stimulating the Economy.
So Jenna & I went out today to stimulate the economy. We hit up TJ Maxx, Ross & World Market first. I forgot how much I really liked TJ Maxx. I definitely have to be in a certain mood to look for clothing there... but purses, shoes & the home department- awesome. The TJ Maxx here did some renovations and it looks great inside! Jenna was there to get some birthday presents & I was there for moral support and to do some of my own browsing... This is what I ended up scoring there:

Hope everyone has a great upcoming week!

This cookbook is normally $30.00 and I got it for $12.99! I was pretty excited! I also found this wire basket for the kitchen- mine's not chrome though, it's like a black iron. It also was $12.99! Woo TJ Maxx!

Our next stop- our favorite place- the mall. It was Friends & Family weekend at Old Navy & GAP- the best time of the year!! Old Navy had a dress a few weeks back that I really liked but didn't think it was worth the $29.95 price tag (a simple cotton summer dress). So I thought well since I have a 30% off coupon... I'll pick it up today.
I am in two weddings this upcoming summer, which means I'll need super cute dresses for the showers & rehearsals. That's why I need dresses.
Anyway, of course, Old Navy didn't have the dress, and nothing really comparable...lots of summer dresses- but kinda not dressy enough. Oh well.
We hit up GAP to visit our fav Kikibee! (and score some sweet deals too :o)
I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try on some of the things that GAP had on their mannequins... I usually stick to what I know- black, brown and the occasional coral/salmon. But today, I tried on a ton of fun stuff! This is what I ended up purchasing:
This is one thing I didn't buy... I definitely love this dress though. If I can talk the parentals into donating some money for the greater good, I'll come back in this week. It would be SUCH a cute dress for showers/rehearsals!!!!

Overall- super fun day of shopping!
Tomorrow's journey: My friend Angel & I are going to join a local gym for a month. We're super excited- more to come on that later in the week!

I love bathroom stuff.
I often find myself wandering around the cosmetic/bathroom aisles of Wal-Mart, CVS, etc...I just can't help it. There are SO many options. So many lotions, face washes, shampoos & conditioners, deodorants, accessories... the list goes ON and ON!!!!!
That's a big deal... I got a BiolagƩ Shampoo & Conditioner & a Matrix Sleek & Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner. They also had OPI Nail Polish- buy one, get one 50% off. So I got two new nail polishes. I also got a new hairbrush- kind of a big deal for me... I've had the same brush since 1993. Don't judge me, I've had brushes in between, but I always go back to my old faithful. Well the little protectors on the edge of each bristle have started to come off- and it kind of hurts my scalp now. So I thought I'd browse around ULTA and see if they had any brush that could replace old faithful.
AND GUESS WHAT! THEY HAD THE SAME BRUSH!

3. Burberry Perfume

I was the happiest kid on earth last night.
So browsing around the ultimate cosmetic store led me to start thinking about all the cosmetic products I can't live without and I thought I'd take some time to share them with you!
(this list is in no particular order)
I love this stuff! I've been using it since 7th grade and don't think I could ever switch. It's so light weight & it's a GREAT moisturizer. Just a little squirt when you get out of the shower and it keeps my face nice all day long. :o)

Grapefruit & Lemongrass- who knew it smelled so good?! I love combining the bar soap & deodorant here. The soap has these little scrubber beads that exfoliate your skin- it feels GREAT. So nice after shaving when your legs are all itchy. The deodorant smells just a great!

I stole this perfume from Jenna... it smells like heaven. I mean, I can't describe in words how great it smells. Seriously, just go get it.

4. Venus Razor
I think I've bought every new razor that Venus comes out with. I am the sucker that pays $8-$12 for a stupid razor. But ya know, this one is definitely favorite. It give you such a close shave. I guess the five blades really do make a difference!

Skintimate always has the most fun scents for sure! Have you ever tried to shave with just soap? It sucks. You definitely need some shaving cream and skintimate is usually my choice!

This is always the face wash I keep going back to. It does a great job at getting rid of blemishes/pimples and keeping my skin clear!! And you, only have to use a little bit, so a tube of it lasts quite a while!

7. Shower Cap
One of my more recent bathroom finds... A shower cap may seem like a blast from the past, but it's just as important now as it was back in grandma's day! You have to take a shower everyday, but you don't have to wash your hair- it's such a hassle to style it only to have to do it again and again and again. The answer to your problem- a shower cap! I wish more cosmetic companies would come out with some cute ones. It took me quite a while to find one I liked. I was using a stolen cheap plastic one from a hotel for about 2 months because I couldn't commit to a plain, boring shower cap, until... I found this super cute one.

Ok, so I don't know the technical term for this gadget, but it's usually two sided with different surfaces to scrub away the yuck dead skin from the bottom of your feet. This item will save you a trip to the nail salon to get a pedicure... which will save you money!

9. Hair Appliances
I love my blow-dryer, straightener & curling iron. When I don't use these products my hair is a hot mess. These tools are essential to every girl's bathroom needs!

This stuff gives hair great texture. When doing it straight, it gives you some volume on top. When doing it curly, it does what it say- makes you look like you've had a day at the beach! And the best part about this spray- the scent!

So I'm not a baby, but my skin sure feels like one! I love baby lotions- they absorb quickly and keep your skin soft all day long! My favorite is the shea butter one...

Every girl should have this in her bathroom staples... usually comes with cuticle pusher, nail clipper, cuticle scissors, cuticle clipper, large nail clipper, nail file and tweezers. Bath & Body Works always has them with super cute travel cases!

I hope you'll try some of my favorite bathroom finds! Girls- you know there's way more stuff that's involved, but these are definitely the ones I can't live without! What are you some of your favorite bathroom bargains?

I'll get by with a little help from my friends...
So I haven't done a blog in a while, so it's time...
So last week I had an appointment with my gyno. First off, I think I have a girl crush on her. She's the nicest person I've ever met.
Anyway, when she was asking me about my family's health history & I proceeded to tell her I'm getting screwed from all directions... my dad has Parkinson's Disease and my mom has every health condition under the sun... but my doctor was most worried about Diabetes. She recommended that if I wanted to be more informed & educated that I should read the South Beach Diet. The diet was created by a cardiologist developed for his patients facing stroke, heart-attack, pre-diabetes and diabetes.
This is taken from their website:
So I've finally finished reading the informational part of the book- telling you about why what you eat makes you gain weight & become unhealthy, good carbs vs. bad carbs, the importance of exercise & exercising carefully, & why doing the south beach diet will help you not only lose weight, but be a healthier person and make healthier decisions!
I'm pretty excited about the possibilities. The book also comes with a workout plan. Not like a crazy one, but one anyone can do. During Phase I you do interval walking every other day, and then some toning & training exercises in between. During Phase II & Phase III of the diet you do a combo of these exercises. I'm pretty sure once I start exercising, I'll enjoy it, and hopefully loose some of this flab around the middle :o)
So here's the bummer part... Since I am living at home for the time being, I've asked my parents if they'll help me along... (Phase I = 2 weeks.... 2 weeks of NO CARBS, yea I'll need some help.)
As I'm explaining it to them, my dad is watching House Hunters and my mom is complaining and insisting that
What else is new . Ya know, maybe it wouldn't be so expensive if YOU didn't go to the grocery store EVERYDAY and buy tons of useless crap that she either cooks and has a ton of left overs, of just sits in the fridge b/c no one eats it. I can't even begin to list the weird stuff that she buys and wastes so much money on.
But here's the thing...
Most of the things I'll need to get for these first two weeks, won't be that expensive. Canned vegetables- last time I checked weren't breaking anyone's bank.
It's just so frustrating when I'm really trying to do something that is going to be good for me. They know just as well as I do that I need to lose some weight... in fact, they bring it up pretty regularly, whether it be in a joking way or not, it's brought up. So how about this? When I actually try to make an effort to better myself... help. Be supportive & don't belittle something you don't even know will work/won't work.

The diet is divided into three Phases. The first Phase lasts two weeks and is designed to eliminate cravings and kick-start weight loss. The second Phase is intended to produce long-term, steady weight loss. You'll stay in Phase 2 until you reach a healthy weight. Then you'll move to Phase 3, the lifestyle Phase. This is how you'll eat and live 365 days a year - and it's the key to maintaining your new, healthy weight.

Resolutions...
So usually I hate New Year's Eve festivities... it's very similar to another Holiday I could care-a-less for - Valentine's Day. But ya know what... It is a new year, a great time for new beginnings. Freshness. So I've decided there are some things I am going to do/change in 2009...
1. Read the Bible through in a year- it's something I've always wanted to do, or I've started and slacked off... but not this year kids! It's happening. I want all of you who see me on a regular basis to ask me if I've read on that day and what it was about. Thanks for your accountability.
2. Have less road rage. I really need to make a conscious effort about it. I am really bad, and I don't even realize I'm doing it. Last night, as I was driving to my New Year's Even destination I thought, I'm going to have less rage in the new year, and you know what I did right after that? Yelled at the Jack who cut me off. I have a problem. So, again, my fellow bloggers- help keep me accountable. I need to wear a rubber band around my wrist and slap it every time I rage- I need to be trained like one of Pavlov's dogs. Is that weird? I don't care.
3. Finances- I put this because I need a lot of work done in this area too. I do have some money coming in, but I can't seem to hold on to any of it. I am going to start putting away 10% of every paycheck. I am also going to try to start balancing my checkbook. I usually have a good idea in my head, but I know if I see it on paper, I'll stop the madness.
4. Taking some advice from the newlywed- I am going to seriously try to control how I handle things that other people do. I need to deal with things more grown-up-esque. I don't need to dwell on my hurt feelings when I feel I've been wronged. I need to move on, get over it, grow up. I am not going to let how other people act encourage me to have a bad day. Not this year, baby.
5. [This one is just for fun] I am going to try to loose some of this weight I've accumulated over the past 4 years. College was amazing, but not to my shape. I am going to try to really watch what I eat, when I eat and how much. I need to get in the habit of going for walks, or playing my Wii Fit :o) It's gonna happen guys, in 2010, I will not be this chunk-a-licious.
I hope all of you try to better yourself for the New Year, it's a great time to start!
