Matthew Chapter 7

Since the new year started I've been reading a passage of the Bible a day thanks to this website.

Today, my passage included verses from Matthew, Chapter 7. Sometimes, I like to look the passages up in The Message for a more conversational feel.

Some of these verses really hit home.

1 "Don't pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults - unless, of course, you want the same treatment.

3 It's easy to see a smudge on your neighbor's face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own.

4
Do you have the nerve to say, 'Let me wash your face for you,' when your own face is distorted by contempt?

5
It's this whole traveling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holier-than-thou part instead of just living your part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor.

12 "Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God's Law and Prophets and this is what you get.

22 I can see it now - at the Final Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, 'Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our God-sponsored projects had everyone talking.'

23
And do you know what I am going to say? 'You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don't impress me one bit. You're out of here.

26 "But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don't work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach.

27 When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards."

I don't want to be doing this to other people. I've been on the receiving end and it does not feel good.

I feel like my whole life, my dad's always told me, "Treat people the way you want to be treated." At the same time though, I'm learning, coming to realize, that you have to be yourself in this process. Stand up for yourself. Be kind, while being you. Live your life by honestly being kind to people, no matter how they treat you.

I do not want to meet my maker and hear him tell me "Lindsay, you missed the boat."

I mean say whaaaaat? Yikes.

Anyway, too deep for a Tuesday night?

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my dad's 55th birthday!

I made him a booklet of some of his favorite CDs; Bruce Springsteen, U2, The Beatles, Queen, Dwight Yoakum, Little Feat, and some Kings of Leon (from me :o)).

The red velvet cake for later :o) Pretty excited about it!

John Mayer's voice feels like home to me.

Have I told ya'll I'm going to see him February 8th in Charleston? aka best day ever?

Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Sunday friends!

My weekends and weekdays seem to blend into each other now that I am working full time.

Friday I got my tax situation worked out and ran some errands with my dad. It was pretty low-key, but a fun day!

I worked yesterday, but after I got off, I met some people from work for team trivia. I've always wanted to play, but oddly enough, I've never been! We had a blast, and came in 4th out of like 11 teams?

Today I worked in the morning, but got off around 2:30. My dad's birthday is Tuesday, and I have a few things planned. #1-I ordered him a red velvet cake from The Trestle Bakery. It's his favorite! #2-I am making him a little CD book of some of his favorites to keep in his truck! He's never had a CD player in a car before so I think he'll enjoy it!
Which leads me to where I am now. I stopped by Target after work to buy some blank CDs and while I was there I picked up some Sony earbuds. They were on sale and they reminded me of pearl earrings. I LOVE them! I've had them in my ears for like an hour now and they aren't hurting! Where have these been all my life?

Hope you all had a great weekend as well!

It's a sad day my friends.

Ladies.

You all know how much I love my boots. So much I paid an extra $20 to get them over-nighted.

Anyway-I go to put them on this past Saturday, and I see this:

Yea. Major freak out.

I have no idea what I did, but I didn't pay $$$ to have my boots, I've worn TWICE, get messed up. They are ripped in two different places, and there was a scuff when they came to me.

So I'm sending them back and hopefully, Piperlime will send me some new ones!

Pray for my sweet, sweet boots that I'll be missing.

Somebody has a case of the Mondays!

Monday.

Ugh. I couldn't seem to get moving today!

Yesterday was a fun-filled day though! I went to work and had some fun taking pictures with Kristen & Amanda, hung out with a friend, then met up with my awesome work team for Bob Evans & Bowling! Can you come up with a better way to spend a Sunday evening? Not me!

Well, after it was over, I watched the DVR'd Golden Globes (YAY Sandra Bullock!), resulting in a very sleep Lindsay today.

Here's some pics from yesterday's happenings:

Today was a big day at work for us! We had been preparing all week to get the store ready for our DM's visit. On top of that, we had shipment this morning. And it was Day #2 of Skinny Jeans & Boots!

How funny was it to see my friend Amy arrive in a veeeery similar outfit:

We were laughing about it all morning.

Our visit went really well. I'm glad it's over though!

Here's some of the other lovely ladies I work with:

Do we see a trend starting here?

I hope you all have been having a great week! Only 1 more day til the weekend!

THEY'RE HERE!

Forward: Please ignore/look past the size sticker on my jeans... and the top that I would never wear with my jeans & boots. I was so excited when I got home, I ripped the box open and changed pants and slid these babies on. Just a warning! Also, if you could ignore the Christmas stuff we've yet to put away, that'd be great. :o)

Lindsay=one very happy girl!

Current Obsessions

Boots. Duh.

I ordered the Idens and they'll be here tomorrow by 3pm!!!! I am SO excited!

Straight No Chaser. Have ya'll heard of this acapella group? They have been rocking my socks off this Christmas season thanks to their rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas.

Straight No Chaser - Holiday Spirits (Bonus Track Version) <--Found here.

I looked them up on iTunes and found they recorded a few recent songs as well, which I immediately downloaded. I could listen to them all day. And they're not too bad to look at either :o)

And speaking of songs to be obsessed with...

The Script sings it here, but Straight No Chaser also sings it. I just love it. It's been on repeat for about 2 weeks in my house/car/iPod.

This website...

This website has a TON of FREE, downloadable goodies. i.e. these 2010 planner guides...
Enjoy my obsessions!

Help! Again!

Ok friends...

Thank you so much for you advice about the dry skin issue!

I bought this the other day at CVS b/c I had a coupon & it was buy one get one free. I'll be sure to let you all know how it's working out :o)

Which brings me to an even MORE important question!

I want boots.

Particularly, these two... I know there's not much of a difference, but I'm asking if you had to pick one-which would you choose?

This is called the Iden.

This is called the Intyce.

Ughh... I'm having some trouble b/c I want to think this is the same boot. The Intyce looks more distressed and wrinkled leather while the Iden looks like a harder, sturdier leather. Does that make sense?

Ok comment away!

Anyone else having this problem?

Ladies.

I have dry skin.

This winter has been brutal on my skin!

I put lotion all over when I get out of the shower, I moisturize my face, and I put coco butter on my feet...

The air is so dry and I guess my skin is used to the high levels of humidity that it has been FREAKING out.

So here's my question--what kind of moisturizing rituals do you all have?

Any specific product recommendations?

I love a product.
