The End of Bike Week Pictures

Ok all- referring to this post, you may have read how I was handling Bike Week 2009. It actually ended up not being not so bad... I stayed in the office mostly when I wasn't running errands. This is where I work- Hoof 'N' Finz is the restaurant and there are two offices underneath the restaurant.

On the last day of bike week, I went out to document some more amazing people... This girl was workin' the goods- selling beer.

Here's some of the awesome clothes they were selling under a tent in our parking lot:

Lastly, here are some of the girls that were in charge of selling the raffle tickets for the motorcycle. They all were incredibly nice and put up with A LOT of BS during the week... Overall we raised $7,000.00! If the City of Myrtle Beach hadn't turned all the bikers away, we probably would have made a lot more...

(I'm the one with a shirt on.)

It'll be interesting to see if they (the bikers) come back next year. I've heard from people that inside the actual city limits of MB, businesses were DEAD. No Money. I'm not really surprised either. The majority of the bikers came to Murrells Inlet, North Myrtle Beach, Surfside, etc. to spend their money.

I'm just glad it's OVER!

Some Good Advice...

The other night I was watching TV with Dad when we came across the Michael J. Fox Special on ABC.

Since Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, he's been pretty interested in Michael J. Fox's story...

So we start watching the special where he travels to different places to meet people who are "incurable optimists". What a cool thought- like optimism as his disease, and not Parkinson's. I would encourage everyone to watch this. Even if you don't know someone with Parkinson's - it's a story about being positive, and always trying to find good in the situation, the silver lining if you will. The story that stuck out the most to me was when he traveled to the secluded Himalayan nation of Bhutan, a modern day Shangri La that stresses the importance of joy in everything it does. Here, the government basically legislates happiness. In their language, the word "help" doesn't exist... for example, when they want to say "Hey can you help me?" they would say "Hey can you be a friend?" Do I have that attitude when someone asks me for help? Sometimes. Definitely not always. Sometimes, helping people is more of a chore. I have tried to work on this since the TV special aired... if we all tried to be a friend, I think we'd all better from it.

Which leads me to the next TV thing that kind of inspired me...

The Dog Whisperer. Cesar Millan. If you don't know who he is- have you been living under a rock? Dad also thinks he is the dog whisperer, walking around "tshhh"ing the dogs all the time. They just look at him like -
"Seriously? I'm not going to stop doing whatever it is I'm doing b/c you tshhed me."

Anyway, Dad was telling me about how we should all live with the attitude of a dog... they don't remember yesterday. All they care about is the present. The don't remember peeing on the carpet yesterday when you got mad at them. They don't understand that there is a tomorrow. All they care about is enjoying the present. Do I want to sleep right now? Ok. Do I want to play right now? Ok. I know it sounds like a simple existance, but ya know what, if I believed in an after life, I'd sure like to come back as one of my dogs... they have it so "ruff" (haha, get it?)

I found this sweet list on-line of living like a dog... I think it gets the point across pretty well...
  • When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
  • Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
  • Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
  • When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
  • Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
  • Take naps and stretch before rising.
  • Run, romp, and play daily.
  • Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
  • Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
  • On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
  • On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree.
  • When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
  • No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back and make friends.
  • Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
  • Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
  • Stop when you have had enough.
  • Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
  • If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
  • When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
I think my dogs have got these down pretty well...

Weekend Wrap-Up

So after work I Friday I went out to eat with some friends and then we headed back into the belly of the beast- aka SBB in Murrells Inlet. We visited with some people, saw a few friends, and overall just had a fun time watching all the bikers... definitely not my crowd.

Got up super early on Saturday for Coastal Carolina's Graduation. The ceremony started at 8:30 a.m.- yikes! It had to start that early though since it was outside. It was warm- for sure, and by around 11 I was dying... After Emma graduated, we went out to breakfast for lunch- super yummy! Here are a few pics from Saturday...

After we got home and changed we hit up the mall since GAP was having a crazy awesome sale...

Yesterday was such a nice relaxing day. Dad made pancakes, I laid out in the backyard for an hour, watched Come September with Mom, took a nap... seriously, a whole lot of nothing. It was amazing, and definitely needed to prepare myself for this week...

Friday Emma is having her graduation party, Saturday I'm going to Columbia to hang, and then the shower on Sunday, drive back to the beach Sunday night. Then start all over again! But thankfully, bike week will BE OVER by the time I get back :o) Hallelujah!

Here are the super cute lingerie shower invites I did for Suzanne's shower in June...

Hope everyone has a great week!

Pray for me.

::WARNING- YOU MAY NOT WANT TO SEE THESE AMAZINGLY TACKY BIKE WEEK PICTURES. THERE IS PARTIAL NUDITY::

Ok so today is the first "official" day of Bike Week 2009.

So far today I have bundled raffle tickets- approximately 50,000, leaving my hands and fingers permanently smelling like rubber.

::shudder::

Saw a trailer bring a crap load of port-a-potties- no pun intended.

Went to a party supply store to buy black & orange balloons & string for the beer tub girls...

Helped tape previously mentioned balloons to tubs...

Just listened to an amazing conversations b/t some guys talking about the ugly beer girls and how they aren't going to make any money for them or the places they are selling beer... wow.

Seen about 10 too many butt checks on females- I'm talking girls wearing chaps with hot pants underneath.

Please pray for me this upcoming week.

I NEED this stuff...

Ok so super cute giveaway here- go check it out! (Or don't b/c I want it. :o))

Check out Mrs. Newlywed's Blog and sign up for her Ashley Brooke Designs Custom Stationary Giveaway!

This stuff is SO cute. I wish I had talent.

Is it me, or does spring time = busy?

I feel like when the temperature goes above 75 degrees, chaos ensues. Am I the only one who feels that way?

Let me give you an update on the madness...

#1- Sickness. I think I'm either getting a head cold, or my allergies are deciding to show up. My nose is a

You're welcome for that image.

#2- Bike Week. Ugh, need I say more? This year is going to be interesting for many different reasons...
  1. The place I work is heavily involved in bike week, so I've been making a TON of stuff for them.
  2. The City of Myrtle Beach has passed a law that bikers must wear a helmet (OH NO!) & the bikers are all pissed off so they are "not coming". So instead of Myrtle Beach being the official city who is sponsoring Bike Week, Murrells Inlet, Socastee, Garden City, Surfside, North Myrtle Beach, Conway, etc. are still encouraging the bikers to come. (300,000 extra people means a lot of $$ to local businesses around here) Well to make a long story short, a group has formed called BOOST (Business Owners Organized to Save Tourism) and they have sued the City of Myrtle Beach and are going to sue Horry County as well for taking away their business. Guess what- my boss is a founder of BOOST. It's been great for me design wise- I've stayed busy since I started here, but now, 2 days away from Bike Week starting, I am doing a ton of random things to help everyone be prepared.

  3. The place I work is also centrally located in Murrells Inlet in the HEART of where ALL the biker bars are. It is going to be SO loud and SO crazy starting on Friday. I'm seriously considering bringing ear plugs to work.

(Can you tell I like to make lists? And lists inside of lists?)

#3- Weddings/Showers. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this time of year because of weddings & showers, but it does add to the daily list of making invitations (yay), buying shower presents, planning showers, buying bridesmaid dresses, buying wedding presents, you get the idea. I need to be more organized since the two weddings I am a bridesmaid in are BACK to BACK weekends in July. Oh, and both out of town. Lovely! I am so excited for both of these weddings b/c I love the brides and grooms SO much and they are going to be SUPER fun weddings, but ya know... it's just busy!

  • Shower in Columbia- May 17th
  • Shower in Wimington- May 30th
  • Shower in Columba- June 13th
  • Girly weekend in Charleston- June 26-28
  • Girly Weekend in MB (thank God) - July 19-21
  • Wedding in Greenville- July 18
  • Wedding in Columbia- July 25
#4- Graduations - now this isn't as time consuming as the weddings, but still exciting! My friend Emma is graduating from Coastal on Saturday @ 8:30 in the morning, outside on the football field. Joy. Ha, I'm super excited for her though! She is also having a graduation par-tay May 15th at her house- gonna be awesome.

Then there are the random things that I'll be committed too- i.e. American Idol Finale, Mother's Day, Working on my tan for all said weddings, Scheduling apointments (hair & nails), and finally... ENJOYING SUMMER!

Could these two be any more pathetic?

I don't watch The Hills anymore on a regular basis, mostly because of this pair. I mean I physically get angry when I watch them. They really get under my skin. Attention grabbing media you know whats.

Sorry my last few posts have been about stupid stuff lol, it's just what seems to be on my mind at the moment.

Good news- we got air conditioning at the office today! Well, hopefully... they were working on it in the office next door and were supposed to finish it tonight if not first thing tomorrow morning.

Happy almost weekend everyone!!
